Sorry that you're having so much pain and difficulty getting the doctor to approve sufficient time off. My surgeon has a range of 2-6 weeks off for surgery depending on the patients needs. I'll be out for 4 weeks total which is a relief since I feel like my energy is still really inconsistent.

I realize this is after your 2 week post op appointment by now. I hope that you made out alright. If the doctor didn't approve more time I would maybe suggest reaching out to a nurse who has worked with you pre-op if you have one. I've met with my NP more than the doctor and she's incredibly understanding and helpful (luckily so is my surgeon I just don't see him as much).

I'm surprised they don't want you out of work longer since lifting is a primary restriction after surgery and I know nurses need to lift a lot of the time. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your response. My surgeon also has a 2-4 week range - theoretically, I guess - but now they are adamant that everyone gets 3 weeks. It's "protocol". Anyway, I stood my ground and got 1 more week, which gives me 4 weeks total, so I guess I count that as a win. I'm still nervous about going back to work but I'll just have to do the best I can and hope my body is ready.

I am experiencing the same pain below my incision and I am 11 days out. I am also now getting back pain...I wonder if all my muscles are just in shock.

Glad you got extra time off, Molly. I am going back to work Monday after 4 weeks. No way was I ready at 3, but I feel ready now, although I know I'll have to try and set some boundaries around self care.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
