I went a few weeks ago for my insurance required endoscopy. The doctor found some inflammation in my esophagus & did a biopsy. Got the call today that it was just due to reflux (I have never had my issues with heartburn until 3 days before the procedure, go figure ). I have to be on acid reducers for 90 days.

Will this effect getting approved for surgery? My insurance required 3 months of visits and my last appointment is on May 18th. So now I'm worried that I'll have to be on the medicine for 90 days before I can even submit my paperwork to insurance.

Hi I just had the endoscopy I'm on 14 day of medication and I it's due to acid reflux. I don't think it would effect your surgery. I'm doing the three day visits. You should be good. I hope all goes well.

They found the same inflammation during my gastroscopy, except i have had awful heartburn! What medication do they have you on? Ive been taking protonix(pantrapazole). Because of the reflux i am now going to have bypass instead of sleeve. Sleeve can make reflux worse, and there is a chance it will improve with bypass. But besides that, it is a medication i will continue to take daily even after surgery, and it is not preventing me from having surgery. I have 2 more nutrition appts(my insurance required 6 months!!) and should be scheduling surgery the end of June/ beginning of July depending on insurance.

I've been pretty much set on bypass since day 1. I considered the sleeve for about 3 days, then I got the results & knew the bypass was meant to be. No way I want to mess with GERD. They have me on some generic form of Prilosec.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
