Cramping and Spasms!

Recommended Posts

I am waking during the night with horrible cramps and spasms in areas I don't normally get cramps. It sometimes happens during the day as well. Eg. Top of foot, back, stomach, behind knee etc. I also get them in my legs and toes. But I am getting them more frequently now than I ever did. I am sure my body is lacking something. I am drinking lots of Water and taking my Vitamins. I am also taking extra magnesium citrate. I am on day 7 of my pre op diet. Just want to know if anyone else is experiencing this?

Could be low potassium.

Magnesium citrate is use to empty the bowel. How it works is it pulls Water from the body into the intestines to help expell feces. This action alone will cause cramping do to dehydration. You may be drinking enough in your eyes, but the magnesium pulls away your fluids and that alone gives cramps, but your body is also stripped of certain nutrients. It can decrease your potassium and increase lactic acid production which causes the pain and cramps.
Try eating 2 bananas a day to increase potassium and help with cramps. Also, try adding pedialite a couple times a day. This will help balance your electrolytes. Just keep as hydrated as you can and try to stay away from caffeine.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
