Chest/stomach bad feeling when eating

Recommended Posts

Hi so I am 4 weeks post op vsg today.. sometimes when eating I get a very full right painful feeling in my chest/upper abdomen. It makes me want to vomit. I don't know if I am not realizing when I'm full and I'm eating too much or too fast? All I know is it is very uncomfortable. Anyone experienced this?

this sounds like you are eating past being full.

I'm 1 month out and still getting used to the new me! My problem is constant belching... using kiddie utensils helps out some... makes me eat slower and possibly let less air in also...

Try eating more slowly with smaller bites. It's a fact of life after surgery that just a little bit of food past our capacity will take us from feeling fine to feeling like garbage. Take your time, and let the cues that you're getting full have a chance to show up before you overeat. You'll become accustomed to what your cues feel like :)

yes, been there once, when i tried to eat a few bites in between meetings...misery ensued. Chew at least 20 times b4 swallowing and small bites...helps immensely. We are retraining our minds and bodies meal by meal...yay us!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
