What is the recovery time?

Recommended Posts

I am wondering how long I would be out of work after surgery? Is a week sufficient time to recover enough to get back to normal?

Hello

I would take more than a week. I took 4 weeks due to recovery and all. It depends on how you feel and what your doctor thinks. Don't push it. Health is first. Best of luck.

I did the surgery on 20.03 so about 1 week ago.. and i am taking next week off work. That seems to be perfect. 2 weeks in total is enough i think

Yes, I agree I should've taken a little longer. I had a sitdown job but it killed me sitting all day. My clothes sat on my incisions and it was just uncomfortable.

I was off work for 4 weeks. I don't think I would have felt comfortable going back after only 1-2 weeks, even though I work in an office. 3 weeks might have been doable, but I didn't want to risk it. I was in quite a bit of pain for the first couple of weeks. I think it's beneficial to have time at home to get used to your new way of eating and let your body heal.

I took 2 weeks and it ran into spring break, which is nice. I am a TA and move classroom to classroom. I get light headed spells so I am glad I took the extra time.

I was off 6 weeks, but I have a very active job as a nurse. I probably could've gone back at the 4 week mark, but I was glad I had that extra recovery time and time to adjust to the new eating routine

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
