Rant - Screw my broken (pre-op) body!!!

Recommended Posts

ARG! I just needed a place to get this off of my chest.

I travel a lot for work. I'll spend 3-4 days in hotels with ridiculous food options out there. When I started this job, I put on a bit of weight because I wanted to try a little of everything during mealtimes and breaktimes.

This past week I was at another meeting and while I wasn't perfect, I ROCKED it. I tracked down a small plate to use instead of the giant ones. I filled my plate with salad so there was less to fill on other things. I ate my Proteins first, veggies next and only once did I have carbs when I was still hungry afterwards. I avoided Desserts for the most part. During breaks, I grabbed the healthy options (celery, tomatoes, nuts). I chewed thoroughly and ate slowly. I left food on my plate and stopped when I was full. I run these meetings, so I have been running around like a crazy person, getting around 15k steps each day.

Yet despite all of that, I put on 8lbs since Sunday. I'm sure some of that is Water weight, but it is SO frustrating to see that.

If anything, it helps solidify my decision even more that I'm making the right choice to have surgery. For years, no matter what I did, nothing made a difference. I can't wait until I'm post op and eating and exercising actually makes a difference.

Stress also has an impact...causes us to develop more cortisol...although you ate healthy, it can be a factor. Lack of sleep. Not getting enough fluids in. About that time of the month. It's no way fat, unless you laid around the whole time eating cheesecake all day, you didn't gain 8lbs of fat. So, don't worry about it. As fast as the fluctuation happened, it'll happen again and go down. Focus on other things but the scale number. It's a mind battlefield for craziness to happen. :)

Thanks @newme17. I rationally know everything you said. Still, sometimes it helps to hear someone else say it.

Lack of sleep was definitely a factor! I just worked three 16 hour days. I'm wiped!

I agree with sleep and stress it definitely effects my weight loss. Also, I never eat nuts, too hard to eat only a couple.

You are mostly stressed out which will only keep the weight on. I am on day 4 of my liquid diet and honestly, I feel a lot better. I will weigh in tomorrow to see how much I have lost.

However, I am a supervisor in a fast pace, stressful job. I have put on my stress shades (meaning, I do not let anything get me overwhelmed). I do that because stress drove me to eat. I have also moved to the early morning shift in which I am going to bed early and waking up early. This is allowing me to get some sleep. I have been drinking tons of Water as well which keeps me busy with the bathroom lol.

Your welcome hon. I am like you too, helps to hear someone say it. 😊 Sounds like it was sleep. Those are super long days! You'll be back in no time. Get some good 😴 and rest now.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
