17 years post-op & WTF??

WTF??

I am 38, had my open RNY GB Surgery 17 years ago....... As far as I can tell, my results have been textbook: Maintained 160-70 lb loss (172 lbs 2day), 2 successful pregnancies (my 2nd w/Twins), retired HS Teacher/SAHMom, awesome marriage, comfortable lifestyle, etc...

BUT..... It feels like all the CRAP keeps coming back to me!!

I watch shows like TLC's, "My 600-lb Life," and feel my "Fat brain" return - it's STILL in there!!!!! Those same thoughts/feelings that occupied the first 20 years of my life flash right before my eyes - Can't seem to escape them!!

Interestingly enough, this very personal predicament leaves me w/questions directed towards OTHER people:

1) Does anyone else out there post-op feel like this?

2) Can my quite involved WLS experience help anyone pre-op?

Any clues?? Plz lemme know....... Thanx!!

I can't answer #1 since I'm pre-op but I can definitely answer #2. ABSOLUTELY!! [emoji5] Anyone out there like myself that is getting closer to surgery and feeling a little anxious.. I would love to hear stories of how your surgery went, emotions you've felt, everything!! I feel like a lot of the things I end up choosing to read (sometimes by accident!) just turn out to be straight horror stories!!

The surgery doesn't fix our brains, it's like an addict to any thing. food, porn, drugs, Cigs, gambling etc. You can get the help you can get therapy, surgery, medication. But the triggers can always haunt you..

[emoji813]2017 could it be, a new me? yaaaass please![emoji813]

Agreed. I would love to hear or read your story. I, too, am pre-op. My surgery is scheduled for May 25th and I am so very nervous and anxious.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
