Almost 8 months out-questions and pic

Recommended Posts

So, I feel amazing! I have lost more than 80 pounds since pre-op diet started and over 90 total. I am less than 5 pounds from the original goal I had set, although I now want to lose about 10-15 more pounds. What worries me his that the last few weeks I have seen a noticeable difference in how much I can eat. That scares the hell out of me. So far, I have been making good choices still but am so afraid that I will start to eat more than I should. I'm at about 1000-1100 calories per day.

For others that experienced similar change in amount you can eat I'd appreciate any tips. I will continue to track everything and try to make good choices but appreciate any advice. Also, was the 8 month mark around when this happened to you?

Here are some recent pics...

What a great question.

I noticed more capacity at 3, 6, 9, and 12 months. My capacity at almost 20 months is about the same as 12 months.

What I had to do was at mainly dense Protein. I had to switch to steak, chicken breasts, pork chops. I increased my fat and increased my calories per day.

Even with increased capacity, dense protein is going to sit in your sleeve, so things like steak are your friend. I had to give up things like chicken salad, too moist, no restriction, no satisfaction, still "hungry" afterwards.

I learned that salad was a slider at that point so I would eat a lot of baby spinach in the afternoons, like a whole bag.

Did you notice it with seafood? Shrimp is very unfulfilling now for me. [emoji26]

Almost 8 months too, and suddenly noticing the same larger capacity for food. Very scary as I still have a lot of weight left to lose! I still want to lose another 123 lbs to get to 150. I am hoping it is still achievable.

Yes and crab. Crab used to have me stuffed now not so much.

That is just normal healing. It isn't a big deal but this is why Portion Control and tracking are important because as time goes on your portion sizes will naturally increase as your capacity does if you don't set the portion before you start eating.

I don't really eat shrimp often because shrimp has a small amount of carbs and is not filling.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
