Will my stomach look "normal" again?

Recommended Posts

On Monday, I will be 1 month post-op (yay!). So, the left side of my stomach where the big incision is looks more "sucked in" than my right side. I understand why. My question is, will my stomach look "normal" again? Or will my left side always have that "sucked in" looking Area? When did your scars disappear? Especially the big one? I want to wear a bikini one day but not if I have surgery scars & an uneven stomach LOL.

Height: 5'0"

Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.

Surgery date: 2/13/17

Goal: -71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).

Current weight: 185.2

My profile picture is not me. It's my "FITspiration" body.

Honestly, probably never.

Being overweight and losing the weight ravishes your body.

Also my left side has always been smaller than right side, and that continues now. I barely have a love handle on the left side, but I have one on the right side.

Most of us will have excess skin. Many people freak out over it, even cancelling surgery out of fear of excess skin. There's no way to prevent it but the answer is plastics after you reach your goal weight.

Wow [emoji15] I seen other people's progression pictures. I'll remind myself now to look on their left side to see. It's something I never noticed before even looking at people's before & after pictures.

It's too early for me to know if I'll have excess skin yet on my tummy. But I am prepared to get plastic surgery especially if I lose my boobs.

The unevenness after surgery took about 2 months to clear up for me. My scars were almost invisible at 9 months. I however will never be in a bikini. I've had stretch marks on my stomach since age 12, and those never go away. My skin is now loose and a little saggy, you can't tell under clothes, even tight clothes, but uncovered it's not a pretty site.

That dent on your left side will disappear. It's an internal stitch holding your muscle etc. back together that they had to cut through. It will dissolve on its own. I've got one too - and I'm a month out today. I saw my surgeon Monday and it will *release* in time. Don't worry about it.

Thanks. I didn't discuss the "cosmetic" part of the surgery with my doctor like scars & loose skin since All we talked about was the safety of the surgery & they were making sure I'd be prepared for the Diet phases.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
