I'm sorry you are going through this.

Nor sure if you are pre or post op, but post op it is very common for your emotions to be off. I think it has to do with hormones.

I have chronic depression, so I know the feeling of just feeling off. Things have been going well for me pre-op. Of course I have my slip ups but I have been focusing on eating Protein at every meal or snack. I'm down atleast 14 lbs since the beginning of January.

Things that have helped in the past are doing activities. For me it was playing on apps like solitaire, skip-bo, farkle, jig saw puzzles. Another thing I did at one point was coloring. I'm not big on the adult coloring books because some of them can be tedious because they have so many small spots to color in. If you have it in you going for a walk is useful also.

I wish you the best. to reach out to me. Feel free to reach out to me if you want.

I know how you feel. Kind of like a numb feeling. For me after surgery it felt like a bad breakup with my boyfriend aka food. Kinda feels like you lost someone but there still there and you can't have them. I felt like this for a while. What really help me get out of this funk was finding new things to do. Play tennis, put puzzle together, yoga, and ect. Your a whole new person now. Before you let food control your life and now you don't have that. This time you come first. You got this.
If you feel like your depression become worse I would talk to your doctor. I'm on 20 MG of Lexapro and it's helps. Also comes in liquid form so you don't have to swallow a pill.

I would definitely talk to your doctor. At least make them aware whether it's long term or not. It could be hormones or even Vitamin levels. Something that could be an easy fix or ease ur mind knowing that it's not "you", which if u were me, would be a sense of relief. It doesn't sound odd that this would happen. But it very well could be a sense of boredom, like as the other typing lady stated - food consumes(d) such a big part of our life that to not have that there anymore our hands and fingers are bored as well as our brain because we're not thinking of what we can or have next like we used to. I haven't had surgery yet, I'm getting the RNY next week. But I've often thought about how I am going to respond after surgery. Emotionally & mentally.
Hope u reach out to your doc! And we're all here 4 u too! :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
