Looking for a Twin (03/07)

Recommended Posts

I'm a revision from sleeve to bypass with a surgery date of 03/07 but haven't found anyone in my boat. Plenty of band to bypass but that's it and there's no 2017 options in the monthly groups.

Hey girl!

I will be getting a revision from sleeve to bypass on 4/24. I have been searching for info, but not much out there. Do you know what to expect as far as this starting weight loss back up, and if it will help with restriction again?

Missy

OMG me too! I did a Google search and that's the closest I got but I was looking for my real life relatable info. From what I've gathered is it'll be like before but sustaining and more restrictive. There's certain pills that we will have to take for life such as Calcium and Iron because our body can't absorb them and since I'm already anemic I'm likely going to have serious deficiencies and possibly need iron fusions. I was also told that for the Vitamins and supplements that we need we can't "skimp" and buy offbrand stuff. It has to be the good stuff which does cost more money and we should get anything in a chewable format if possible. I don't know about you but I never really saw the results that I was hoping for the first time and I did put back on some of the weight over the past few years. I'm still limited in what I can eat and how I can handle stuff and I eat less than the average person yet I had/have no significant weight loss or improvement in my health.

Good to know! I didn't know about the Vitamins having to be name brand. I haven't gained any weight but I have been hovering for a while with 60 to go. I have always felt I could eat more than most people. Yay for us!

The RN is actually a bypass patient as well so she's not just medically knowledgeable but personally connected and can relate; her assistant is too. I really thought what's the difference but I guess because we are so restricted we can't do off brands. I actually swung by GNC tonight and got good Iron pills, chewable Calcium and this awesome drink instead of chalky shakes. There's different flavors and obviously with a case you can't mix and match but I tried it tonight and it's sooooo much better than the stuff I used last time. If it'll let me post a pic I'll show you and if not post again with details.

Grand total I lost under 75lbs and when I hit that mark it was for a hot second. I will cry if this one doesn't work. I love my body but I have day of the week pills cases for mornings AND nights and with my genetics and family history I'll be dead before 60 like my mom, uncle and grandfather. I have maintained a "range" since I plateaued but sometimes it will rise. To be honest, today when I did pre-admissions I started to freak out and second guess the surgery. How were you post op for the sleeve? I'm so glad I found someone else in my boat and I hope we stay in touch!ImageUploadedByBariatricPal1488606723.793504.jpguImageUploadedByBariatricPal1488606749.082561.jpg

For me my acid reflux got worse after surgery. With the rny you can loose more weight, have dumping to help with sugar cravings, and my surgeon made my sleeve to big so I didn't feel the restriction very well. I should have gone with rny in the beginning.

Here's the place to share everything and be an open book in my opinion. My doc choose for me and a friend had hers with the same doc a couple weeks before me with great success. Most people do and it's the least restrictive but more successful than the band. I didn't technically have any issues like Missy but good God the heartburn! The RYN will eliminate that thankfully and obviously I need something stronger. My eating is completely reduced but from the beginning even when I was eating nothing I wasn't successful. I have fears this won't work either but it's a risk I have to take. This was how I tracked it at the time and if was slow to minimal progress in my opinion. Currently I hover at about 305 give or take 5lbs. I will be having sleeve to bypass on April 10 due to excessive acid reflux. Of course, I am going for the trifecta because I had a band to begin with and have already been revised once. Insurance has already approved me, but info on this is so hard to find regarding changes and weight loss expectations

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
