Since losing weight have you been treaded differently?

Recommended Posts

While watching a youtube video, the user mentioned that people treated her differently after losing weight. People were nicer and she got a promotion even though she didn't change her work habits.

So, my question is have you been treated differently once you lost weight?

If so, how so?

Also, has your dating life changed? Granted you weren't married prior to surgery.

If you were married has losing weight had an effect on your married

I wouldn't say I have been treated differently at all or maybe I just havent noticed it. I have a very happy disposition and when I decided to have the surgery, friends woud say that they never really saw past my smile, so the 'package' wasn't an issue and it hasnt changed how they treat me now. As for skinny shop assistants, well as long as you have the money to buy in their shop, again - I havent had issues. Maybe I am just lucky as I have heard horror stories from other people about shop assistans being rude. As for my marriage, its the same as it was before. Near enough perfect ;)

What has changed is my attitude to me. I don't wear black to events, I don't stand in corners trying to hide. I have started horse riding again, which I havent done for such a long time. I have faith that I really do deserve that dress which costs a lot and I don't need to look at the sale rails all the times now hoping something cheap will just 'do'.

My kids are all adults, so its time for me now. I have earn't it.

I lost a lot of weight about 15 years ago (75lbs) and people def treat you differently. I had a lot of male attention suddenly (which freaked me out and I gained 10 back). My ex's best friend who was always rude and unkind to me was suddenly nice and treated me with respect. I also realized I deserved more and better and eventually ended my marriage. I'm a lot wiser now so I'm not afraid of my life imploding again and I'm in a happier more stable relationship but I do think all of those life events got me to gain it back and then some and then afraid to lose it again. I had one "compliment" that I hated the most. "Wow you look great. You look like a completely different person!" Um thanks? So I don't look forward to the comments again but I'm older now and know I can handle it differently. Beautiful people have a nicer life. People go out of their way to be nice to good looking people and some people cannot see past fat to see beauty. So be prepared for it, stay grounded and remember who you are. Eventually it will all calm down and return to normal. A new normal. I also had a friend say "what, are you going to get thinner than me now?" I was sad that she wasn't supportive but we were in our late 20's, this time round I hope for more maturity. I understand the jealousy, I've felt it when friends lose weight but I have the good sense to keep my mouth shut. it will all be worth it in the end. Right? I'm only 3 weeks in so no ones noticed my weight loss yet but will be interested to see what difference 15 years make to people's reaction.

I had an occasional friend who lost 100lbs but I didn't know her when she was big, I lost 30 lbs and she gained 30, putting us in the same weight range , she seemed upset, and she never spoke to me anymore. I thought it was crazy and my husband noticed her eyeing me up with a dirty look too....weird!!! Anyway, women never want other women to look good, I'm the fat one in my group and I wouldn't even tell my friends I'm having the sleeve, cause I know what they'd say... "Your not big enough".... They just don't want me to be their size deep down.

People get used to you being the fat one and feel better about themselves when around you so if you all of a sudden look great they don't know how to feel or deal with that. I've been on both sides. I get it. But to not be friends with someone because of it!? There are some serious issue going on there.

I didn't loose any sleep over it, lol.

I feel like I look awful , but I've been with my husband over 20 years, he's always saying how great I look, although lately I complain about working ,my legs are always sore and I don't like swimming etc....he's okay with me doing it, as he knows I'm struggling with it. We've always been workers, when there's nothing to do we split wood or help neighbours.etc, unfortunately I always make Snacks and huge meals for everyone. I'll just feed them and take care of myself!

From my friends and family, not really.

From strangers absolutely.

Went to the barbershop (barber is a family friend) and saw my barber later. He wanted to make sure I was OK (been going to the barber for years). They all thought I got sick or had cancer. [emoji52]? At least they checked on me though, lol.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
