Watch Dr Matthew Weiners videos about the myths about WLS. He explains the whole stretching phenomenon.

I am an actual, successful WLS patient who is 3 years post op, so my actual experience is my expertise.

Don't state things like they are fact when you don't know. The stretching debate will always be a sticking point. I've done my research, lived my truth, hence my conclusion. Because you don't agree with it doesn't mean I'm wrong and you're right or vice versa. I, too, was sharing my ACTUAL experience with it as a veteran of WLS.

I never once said you were wrong. Perhaps you need to reread the thread/our little spat. If you do, you'll see that I originally referred to an expert's lecture. Oy vey. Someone got up on the wrong side of the bed. I'm done with defending myself to you. I appreciate the reference to the video. But, do us both a big favor and don't bother reading any of my future posts. We clearly don't gel and this has gotten silly. Have a great night.

This forum used to have an ignore option, and if it still does, I suggest you find it. I can read any post I choose, and certainly won't be policed by the likes of you.

You will be able to eat more and more as you progress through the first few months post-op. This isn't unusual and it's nothing to panic about. My nut says I can eat a cup of food at a time now that I'm 5 months out, and generally, she's right. I couldn't eat a cup of dense Protein like chicken, but I can eat a cup of Soup or yogurt, which pretty much go right through.

With regard to stretching - personally (and based on what I've read/seen) I don't think it's stretching as much as it is eating around the sleeve. Imagine my surprise when I decided to have "a few" potato chips. I counted out a serving, tracked it, and was not even a little affected by the intake. I could have eaten the whole bag! You've heard of slider foods - well, believe me, they are a thing. Because sliders don't close the pyloric valve they slide right through and your capacity is much higher. Obviously this increases calorie intake and voila - weight gain ensues.

One rule I don't break is drinking when I eat. This will also cause you to eat more than you should because it pushes food through the sleeve allowing you to accomodate more volume.

I'm not perfect - I eat small pieces of chocolate here and there, I have popcorn and chips once in a great while, sometimes I'll have a small piece of bread with butter. 95% of the time, though, I follow my plan and I measure and track everything in My Fitness Pal (even the popcorn and chocolate!) That, to me, is the key - being aware of everything that I'm eating. Presurgery I ate with abandon, and that's never going to be the case again.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
