Help! Sick on pre op diet! Will it go away before surgery?!

So before I even knew I wanted the surgery, I took vitamins. They made me feel great. But I had to stop them a week prior to my surgery, and it's taking a toll. My throat is sore and feels swollen, the pressure im my head is ridiculous. I'm drinking copious amounts of water to try to counter act but I feel just awful, when just a few days ago I was on top of the world! My immune system has completely seemed to stop working. I have no fever as of right now, but it's Sunday and my surgery is Wednesday! Did anyone else experience this?! Does it stop? Will I feel better? Any medicine I can take while I'm doing this liver shrinking diet?

It is probably a coincidence :) Sounds like a cold getting started. Don't be surprised if your surgery is postponed.

Hope you feel better!

I was on the tail end of a cold for my pre-op appts and had the same concerns. I was told that all anesthesiologists have different protocols but generally so long as I didn't have a fever it would likely be a go. And it was (RNY 1/23/17).

Rest up! Here's to a successful surgery and your new journey.

Thank you guys so much! I'm trying my best to get some rest but you know sometimes if you're sick and you can't sleep, you're just miserable. I will keep you posted. Two more days' thank you!

I started getting a cold a week before my procedure and I called my surgeon. He put me on antibiotics and I was fine by surgery date.
