Weigh In Question

Recommended Posts

I have a question...my paperwork is with the insurance company as I write this, so I'm hoping for a quick and easy approval. My question is...I just made the BMI with 35.2 and 2 co-morbidities. If I get approved and lose a bit of weight and fall under a 35 BMI at surgery, can they then not pay or deny me?

I had sleep apnea and high blood pressure. I was right on the edge of not qualifying eith my BMI and had to maintain (even gain a few pounds) during my 6 month required insurance class. Once I had my approval letter, I was able to start my pre-op liquid diet and start losing prior to surgery.

Once you are approved, you are approved. I am also under the BMI with comorbidies and getting a revision from band to sleeve on Feb 8. If they deny you have the surgeon do a peer to peer, that's what I did and I got approved right away.

Hi there, my BMI was just under what was required (no comorbidities). I asked, should I gain weight to meet the criteria? They couldn't really tell me yes. I gained the weight anyway. When I got to that weight I asked your question bc my band removal and sleeve surgery were going to be two months apart. I was told no, I wouldn't be denied if I lost weight. It was that the number was documented that counts. I was told, however, that I could be denied for gaining a lot of weight. I'm not so sure that that's true. I gained 6 more pounds in those 2 months. Good luck to you!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
