Hi Naomi.J

Try not to worry too much. A lot of people I met didnt do a pre-op diet, ate indian takeaways and drank like a fish. That said though, you must stick to the diet once you have been banded, otherwise you will damage your band and will be back to square one.

Noone can answer what Dr Chris will do, only he can answer that one when he opens you up and looks inside.

I hope everything goes well, let us know how you get on once your back. Im sure you will be fine.

Goodluck

Hi Everyone

I am due have surgery with Dr De Bruyne on the 1st of October which i booked through Europesurgery. I would like to know what the post op diet recommended to you was, although i have emailed Dr De Bruyne i have not heard back from him as yet and i would like to have all the things i need ready for when i come back. Do you have to drink Protein Drinks after and if so what did you buy? I have seen that lots of people have to have a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks and then mushies for 4 weeks etc, is this what Dr De Bruyne advised you to do?

Also what size is the band you had fitted and did he partly fill it during surgery?

I feel like i really need some advise as it it getting closer and i am starting to panic that i wont have everything ready!!

Thanks

Hi CarrieJess

I had slimfast shakes but apparently they arent recommended due to the high calories, I have still lost 2 stone though since the beginning of August. You can have clear Soups with no bits. I also had crispbake crackers with jam or cream cheese on as they melt in your mouth (they give you those for lunch at the hospital).

Dont worry you will be given package which tells you what you can and cant eat.

Re the band. They do different sizes. I had a 10cc band but I know someone at the hospital who had a 15cc band. They do not fill the band during surgery you have to wait about 6 weeks before you can have a fill.

Good luck with your op.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
