I'm off for 6 weeks. I have no intention of rushing back to work even though I have a desk job. I'm fortunate that i have the support of my bosses and supervisors who advised me to stay out the time my surgeon said I should b/c my health comes first. Yes I have bills but I paid my bills in advance knowing I will be out that long

I know many cannot afford to do that and trust me I'm not rich but I budget myself and i was not planning to touch my saving unless I needed to but since I knew ahead of time how long i will be out for i started saving since July after i attended the seminar so my rent is paid for Feb and March already as is my cable and cell phone bills. My credit cards i have not used since I paid it off b4 years end so i will not have any debt in the New Year which i do every year plus I only used my cards when I really need to do but like i said not every one can do this.

I HIGHLY recommend taking at least a week off. One of my incisions stings like a b**** and I am 5 days post op. I couldn't imagine being somewhat physical so soon. Not only are your incisions healing but a lot of people still experience nausea and vomiting even after 3-4 days post off. Don't do it to yourself!!! Your body needs to rest and heal.

I went back to work after one week, but I have a desk job and didn't have any pain or nausea alter my surgery. With your bending and lifting, it may be difficult to do that, so would definitely suggest having a discussion with your surgeon.

I'm almost 3 weeks out and I go back to work next week. i only have a desk job but I am still exhausted and frequently have nausea. I can't imagine going back next and i certainly couldn't have done it after one week. I had one day after about 10 days out where I thought I felt good so I was cleaning with just a little light bending and no lifting and I was in pain the whole rest of the day and scared that I might have hurt myself.

After my lap band surgery. I went back in one week. I'm a vet tech. I'm on my feet all day in and out of cages. Bending into lower cages. At the time I was a little sore and I managed to avoid lifting any animals over like 25#. I absolutely cannot afford to be out for a long time. I'm planning on revising to the sleeve. Cross my fingers I could have surgery if I get approved end of February/beginning of March. I plan on taking maybe 10 days off. I'm not one who is able to stay at home. I remember by day 4 I was bored crazy last time.

I probably was lucky since I didn't have lasting pain. Day one I was like wtf did I do I'm dying? Day 2 I was like ok not so bad, and say 3 I only took pain meds because I had bad cramps. After that I may have taken one or two doses of tyelenol. I imagine the pain will be the same this time.

I would think you would be ok. I had a lifting restriction and had to take off more time bc I'm a nurse and have to be able to lift/move 50lbs.

I'm a teacher and also work from home. I'm on vacation from the first till February 22 (and if I wasn't I would get a month paid leave). My surgery was last Tuesday and I plan to start working from home again tomorrow. I can rest if I need to and whenever I need to.

I am still hoping to be able to work next Monday after having the procedure Friday. I know it sounds optimistic but if it's not any worse than my gallbladder surgery I am hopeful

You need to adjust to your new eating requirements. Drinking Water is not easy the first days. I'm drinking a few sips every few minutes so I can drink all I need. Drinking my Protein shake takes half an hour, and even taking meds is time consuming. If you can't rush.

Recovery is quite fast but bending and lifting is not a good thing to do in a while. You need someone to help you with all that. You may also feeling tired because of the los calorie intake. Pain meds make me feel sleepy too and I need one or two naps.

If you have help at work and time to drink properly, you may just be fine.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
