Does your Protein shakes count as a meal? Such as no eating 30 minutes before or after meals? If I mix Protein with broth should I follow that rule?

My nut and surgeon both said it's considered a Fluid.

OK so I don't have to worry about Fluid intake before or after?

Yes I know it's a meal, but I'm confused because it is liquid. Does the no liquids 30 mins before and 30 mi Utes after still apply?

I believe if it's liquid it would digest just as quickly as Water so I wouldn't think the rule would apply.

I was instructed to drink my Protein shake 30 minutes after a meal or 30 minutes before a meal. But I can't even do that because I get full, so I always wait at least an hour before or after a meal to drink my Protein

Yes it is a meal and actually I would wait for a bit to drink after. You probably won't need to wait 30 mins though. He reason I say his is that I dump if I drink my shake too fast. So it goes to say if I drink a shake and the follow it with Water it could push the shake in too quickly and trigger a dump.

I was told it is both a meal and a liquid. So I count the 11 oz as a liquid, and I still wait 30 minutes before and after it like a meal. It is my dinner.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
