I have a BMI of 36.7 and I have high blood pressure and high cholesterol. I meet with my doctor for the first time next week and i am frightened i will be turned away or told i need to gain 40 more pounds.... as if i want to gain more weight!!!..

I have ameriheath in Pennsylvania and the requirements for me are bmi of 40 or higher with no health problems or bmi of at least 35 with two health problems. Also for me it was a 6 month program (im on my 4th month), and just like most others its a visit with a dietitian and psych eval. I hope that helped! Also if you go to google and type in your insurance provider and put requirements for bariatric surgery it should bring you a form!

Thank you for the response. When you say a 6 month diet plan is that through the surgeon? I have been on a diet plan through my pcp for months with weight loss medication. I wonder if that would be acceptable.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
