Having sleeve tomorrow .nervous

I know everyone has a different experience. I would like to know what parts of the post op in the hospital were the most difficult? Pain or liquids. I was told my pain has to be under control and keeping liquids down. I will not have the x-ray study for the leak. This surgeon does a scope (EGD) at the end while still in surgery to check for any leaks. Has anyone had that procedure done right on the OR table. I will still be asleep. Thanks.

Congratulations on the start of your journey!! I'm currently 11 days post op and so so happy with it! The day after the surgery was definitely the worst for me pain wise, but it's true what they say about walking! Walk walk walk as much as you can! And of course they will give pain meds to help take the edge of, so you will definitely be able to get through it. My doctor also has me on a two week post op liquid diet which can at times be tricky because of the cravings, but once you see the difference it makes it gets so much easier!

The most difficult part for me was the day they took me off the iv and my happy drugs and I left the hospital. I was never in excruciating pain, but rather felt discomfort.

you'll be fine - best of luck to you!

xoxo

the main thing to do is avoid reading posts the closer you get to your date - I did NOT do that and got scared to death - because naturally, you will focus on the bad. The surgery is NOT bad - I had some minor gas pain right after - but was never in any real pain. I'm now about 10 days out and if not for my looser pants, would not know that I had surgery at all!

Sleeved 12/19/16

Weighed 208

I woke up in recovery and couldn't stay awake so I had to stay there for a while longer then everyone else. So make sure to stay awake once you wake bc they may make u stay there longer instead of going into your private room.

Walk as soon as the dr says to and walk every hr up and down the hall while u r there. TRUST me. I had no issues with gas pains bc I did. They will give u small cups to drink from. Start with a tiny sip then put the cup down. U can no longer take large amounts of anything into ur system. And I noticed that putting the cup or spoon down helps in slowing me down so I didn't feel that tightness and discomfort in my chest.

They might give u a disgusting liquid to drink after surgery too. And if u r like me u may need 14-28 days of blood thinner shots twice a day that hurt like hell.

For the liquid phase I made Soups and just strained them and drank the broth. It helped bc I liked them rather then the store bought broths.

Hoped this run down helped.

Best of luck!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
