Making the most of the first year

Recommended Posts

Hello all

I'm two weeks post op so I'm just beginning my weight loss journey. I know the first year or so is really when you lose the most weight so I'm wondering if you have any tips to make the most of this first year and maximize weight lost. Any certain foods to eat? Exercise tips? Anything to avoid?

Thanks!

Protein first always. Then greens... be done with bread. Don't forsake the follow up appointments. Just a few I wish I could do over. Stay conneted.

Well, weight loss is always fastest in the beginning, regardless if you lose it with WLS or not. Weight loss will (usually) slow down with time when you get near goal weight.

As for what to eat, there are different opinions and different plans out there so I won't comment on this. Stay in touch with a NUT if possible so you can ask questions if necessary.

Just stick to your plan and milk that first year for all it's worth - esp those first few months when you have no hunger. It will *never* be easier to lose weight than it will be these next few months - so take full advantage of it!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
