I know this might be TMI but I don't know who else to ask. I had my original surgery date set for Jan 3, but on Jan 2nd the doctor decided I needed 5 more tests run. I was to begin my pre op diet on Dec 25th for the Jan 3rd date. So I went ahead and started the diet so that when they decided the date of my rescheduled surgery I'd be ready and wouldn't have to wait 10 more dates. What I have found is I am having Constipation issues and don't know what to do about it? They did reschedule me for Jan 18th at 7:30 AM, Woot woot which I am totally excited but I don't want to deal with constipation issues up till then nor afterwards if I can ward it off. Can anyone help me and guide me on what to do? The good news is I lost 13 lbs in 10 days. Yeah.

Any and all advice would be appreciated.

Because you're not eating solid foods like you used to your Fiber intake has probably lowered. I regularly take fiber capsules. Before my surgery they asked me to drink a whole bottle of magnesium citrate which is an extreme laxative to clear the bowls before surgery. I wouldn't be afraid to take a few tbsps of Milk of Magnesia. No worries though, everybody has to poo. lol

I am on pre-op and my morning Water glass has a capful of Mira lax. I'm usually constipated and with this I'm able to go daily.

Hope this helps

Mira lax is tasteless but is white and leaves some in the cup. Right now I can still chug so I just chug it in Water. After surgery I may just lessen the Water to get it in faster as I sip.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
