I'll have a black and blue Christmas

Recommended Posts

Hey all,

I'm two days post-op (sleeved on Wed 12/21). Miserable as heck!
I started walking as soon as physically possible after my surgery. I've been walking like mad, but the gas pain is nearly unbearable.

It's really been a struggle and a source of worry for me that my Water intake has been so low. It just hurts so bad if I have more than 3 sips.

The worst part is that my pain meds are not good at all. They relieve my pain for only about 90 minutes and new doses are only every 4-6 hours. I feel as though I am suffering without needing to.

Anyway, I just wanted to vent. These past 3 days have been so awful I've really doubted my decision. I'm doing my best to keep my chin up and look forward to a healthier life.

Merry Christmas, every one.

Don't doubt your decision. For me it was the best thing I've ever done. The first few days post op were a little rough but each day was better than the last. I only took pain meds for a few days after surgery. Then I was good to go without. Only had minor pain with some movements. It's an excellent Christmas present for yourself! Complete life changer, just stick to your surgeons plan and you'll do great.

My sister, a nurse, told me that laying with your feet raised up higher than your heart/ head will relieve a lot of the gas pain. When I got home I slept with three thick pillows stacked against the headboard and my head down towards the foot of the bed. Sounds silly, but it worked.

Thanks for your words of encouragement.

I'm going to try the feet above my heart trick for the gas pain!

I totally feel your pain I am 6 days post op and had the exact same feelings but it will get better just try to keep sipping as much as you can and walk walk walk! It does help I still have pain in my chest from the gas I also had Hitial Hernia repair and feel like that is why I still hurt. Good luck to you focus on the goal and it will remind you why this was the best decision for us. I weighed today and have realized all this pain has its rewards. 230 preop 219 SW 211 CW

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
