Can i just say i love the idea is this thread. I haven't had money to get a kitchen scale so i have been using the few measuring cups i have and just eyeballing things. Taking my time and trying to feel out cues for when I'm close to full so i can stop. It's still hard almost 3 months out but its coming along. Still having trouble with timing and how fast im eating. How long does it usually take you guys to finish a meal? I try to get it all in by 30 to 40 minutes. I have no real idea how much im actually eating which makes me uncomfortable. Didn't mean to hijack just been really scared with my eating since im eating solids for the most part now. So many questions, i need a wls buddy lol.

This scale is affordable and accurate. I have been using it for 1.5 years.

Thanks for the recommend. Hopefully my sister follows through with her idea of getting me a food scale for Xmas lol.

Before and after. That was an 8 plus ounce pork chop pre cooked, 6.6 cooked. After I finished I weighed the bone and subtracted it, the bone was one ounce. So about 5.5 ounces of pork loin chop. I probably wouldnot normally eat that much but I am short on calories and it is getting late in the day. 4 ounces is about the perfect amount for me but depending on the fat/moisture content I can eat a little more. I'm stuffed right now, so I probably should have stopped at 4.

I just wanted to add that unlike a lot Bariatric patients, I use regular plates and utensils and always have. I wanted to be mindful that I was eating smaller portions and I felt the best way to get that point across to myself was to use regular plates so I could learn what proper portions look like in relation to normal plates. It helps when eating out to Guage when to stop when I do not have scale.

Should have taken a picture, but had almost a whole hot wienie with about half the chilli on it. One bite of slaw, because it's slaw and you just have to.

I am stuffed to think before it was nothing to eat a double dog plate,w bun fries and slaw. Washed down with a large soda.

The best way I can explain my eating change from the sleeve 6 weeks out is, I grab the white plate now instead of the red plate..My desire to eat a lot isn't there anymore..how my taste buds changed after surgery is still a mystery for me Sometime I have to remind myself to eat because now that my fluids increased I fill even less hungry..Good Luck in your journey attachicon.gif 20161223_054526.jpg

That's great, I don't see anymore food on the plate, eating just that and being full...boy oh boy...Nice. How long

Just a couple weeks short of 18 months.

If eat my veggies as Snacks between meals. I have 3 cups of salad greens (baby spinach or European mix) for my afternoon snack.

I don't have room for Protein and veggies at the same time and Protein goals are the most important to me.

It takes me about 30 to 40mins..with all the chewing..sometimes I get bored with it and stop..but using the small white dessert plate (smaller than salad plate) and eat that way..Sometimes I'm lazy about the scale n weighing...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
