I'm not supposed to be eating. And I know that but I find it hard not to. I'm eating pretty much whatever.

So basically you decided that ignoring your doctor's instructions and eating a week after major surgery is OK and you came here to find people who agree? Great.

Your insurance paid for this surgery because you are morbidly obese. If you can't follow simple medical instructions to prevent serious post operative problems I m not going to waste my time on you.

But, before I BLOCK you, unless you are well bent on killing yourself I suggest you get some psychiatric counseling ASAP.

So I understand people telling me that what I have done is not right and I need to stop and do right and I apperciate that. But I didn't get on here to be talked to rudely and be judged. So in words of my mamaw if you ain't got nothing nice to say don't say anything at all. ☺. I have done nothing to offend.

Gustavo, thanks so much for your compassionate and thoughtful response to my post. I can see why YOU are so very superior to me in every way.

If you had bothered to read the whole thread you would have seen that this was not my first post to this attention seeking drama queen. But why do that instead of jumping all over my a**?

Maybe we should all be kind and encouraging when someone is actively trying to kill themselves? That would be SO HELPFUL.

You enjoy your holidays...Notice how I didn't say "merry Christmas"? That's because I'm not so self centered that I think that everyone celebrates Christmas.

First of all, there is a nice way to say something and get your point across and an ignorant way. You may or may not learn that in life. For your sake, I hope that you do. Second of all, where in here did I say I was superior? Again, you are creating your own scenarios. You were saying you posted more than once if I had "read the entire post" well I did read it all and I'm wondering what set you off since nobody responded to your initial comment? Lol

You were sleeved recently I see, perhaps you are hangry? (Hangry=hungry+angry)

Whatever the case may be, it doesn't make it right. We are all going through the same thing and all looking for advice. There is no need for hatefulness. Not to mention, the ignorant responses aren't going to teach someone anything. The only drama I seen came from your end??!! I will not respond to you again. Your behavior is absurd.

Oh and I won't even respond to the merry Christmas thing! Come on, don't be petty

Sorry I am NEVER hateful and my initial intention was to help.

As for you and your seemingly desperate attempt to "educate" me. I have a life and can't get all bogged down with your OPINIONS. Move on

I almost feel like this post is a joke! Who would put themselves through this traumatizing surgery and then risk their life by not following Dr's orders??? Serious medical issues can result in eating food too quickly: leak, tears, hemorrhage, etc. Is risking your life really worth a few bites of food? Why on earth did you get this surgery? You need to contact your surgeon ASAP and inform him/her on what you are doing to yourself.

Agreed!

Don't drag me into this one, please! I'm don't do name calling and personal attacks? Nope. Debate the subject not the people.

@@cantstop87 You would feel pain if a stitch busted open. But please be aware that is a very real possibility and it is exactly why we have a diet progression to stick to. Liquids...then pureed...then soft foods for WEEKS.

I am sure you were given a plan. Please read it and stick to it. 99% of the success of this surgery is your mental fortitude. If you can't do it on your own, then you need to contact someone with your team ASAP. I would contact them anyway and let them know how far off plan you have strayed as they will likely want to check you out ASAP.

I hope it is a joke this very dangerous.... @@cantstop87 you really need to call your psychologist asap!

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
