3 month post op - can't eat

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved on September 19 and went through the phases with little difficulty. When I got to phase 4 (solid Protein, veggies and fruit) I began to struggle. My stomach constantly feels bubbly. While I was able to eat 4-6 ounces of soft food, now I can barely get 3 in. Also, all protein makes me nauseous. meat, Beans, cheese, cottage cheese, tuna, Protein shakes. All of it makes me gag to get it down. But I can tolerate things like mashed potatoes or Tomato Soup. The last week everything I've eaten goes right through me. Has anyone experienced any of this? I'm getting so discouraged and starting to worry a bit.

The bubbly stomach sounds like your culprit. Are you taking a Prilosec or other version of Omeprasol every morning? You should be taking one each morning Before you eat for at least the first year+, according to my Nut and Surgeon. If you are, perhaps you have other GI issues, or you simply need prescription strength products to fix your bumbling tummy.

Just a thought, based on personal experiences only

I do take prescription Prilosec once a day, but I still have the bubbly stomach. No pain though. I have gotten "foamies" twice so I tend to agree that it may be acid reflux I'm feeling. I'm going to call the surgeons office tomorrow to see what they say just wondering if anyone else had experienced this. I just want to be able to eat again.

Have a chat with your surgeon as it could be stenosis, this can start to happen as you progress from mushy foods to small solids. Unfortunately I am speaking from experience I had mine on November 7th and have been put back onto liquid's, tomorrow I am having a camera put down for a look see. Best of luck.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
