The Ongoing Saga of my Dad & my Surgery

Recommended Posts

My dad is kinda the same. He keeps asking me if I'm sure and sends different people to talk to me about it. Lol

There is this Kesiha parody from the Key Of Awesome, I can't copy it here cause my computer is work locked down, but one line is the girl singing, "Oh crap not again, it's an intervention". Going in my head right now :)

I did the surgery. I am hurting and sipping and ready to not hurt so much, but overall everything went fine.

Good for you! Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a successful next stage of your journey!!

So glad you are doing well! As the days go by, I hear it gets better and easier. Someone I watch on youtube who is years out is Clusie L. She is hilarious and she does share alot of her experiences with WLS. It may help the days pass are you are Progressing through the different food stages!

And yes, it was kinda like an intervention scene with my dad. I'm like dad, I'm good, I got this. Stop sending folk to talk to me about a decision I have made already and 2 months away from. Lol Parents, they mean well.. most of the time, but they are some funny people.

*hugs*

I tried to find Key of Awesome Ke$ha parody, but this a school computer and everything fun is locked down or I just am not that good!

My poor Dad wrote me a handful of VERY well written emails. I know he was just pacing and pacing and pacing his house. I should have called my Dr's office and begged my Dr to call him (my Dad is in Virginia, I am in Texas). Cause I knew my Dad was wearing himself out. He got my brother in on it too. I get this short message, "Come to Colombia, you will lose 20 lbs in a month walking the hills, don't have surgery" (which is alot from him). Then another the night before surgery..."Come to Colombia". My other brother, a PhD in MicroMedical Biology called with questions and technical questions and a reminder that I could always back out. My mom wanted to know why I couldn't just eat carbs, then was like...yea, I know..but did want to know why I was not having a Bypass like on 600 Lbs life. In the end, here I am :)

I wanted to drive to Dallas today, but I think once I get my stuff all packed, I wont have energy for the drive!! Oh--and I got a binder. Wow! What a difference!!

Yeah, my Dad has chilled out. I was to go to Dallas or xmas, but have been too tired for that drive. I was going this morning, but silly me, drank a juice called Kale Blazer...yeah...a very very very bad idea (I am day 8)...so no driving today. Mom is not happy :)

Good luck on your recovery! My parents weren't thrilled about my having the surgery, but now they are seeing me down 66# and are asking my advice about my dad's sister having the surgery. Just keep on doing your thing, and they'll see you made a good call!

My parents, especially my father, have never been my "go to" choices for information or advice. The older I got the more this was true.

I must say your father seems to have quite a flair for the dramatic. Is he used to getting his way? If he is then your decision is hard on him not just because you are doing this. So, be kind to him while you ignore what he says.

As for the bland food, in case you don't know, you can have all the spices you want. I put hot sauce in my Soup in the hospital. And once you are back on solid food, 4 oz will seem like a lot !

Good luck with everything.

I have heard the binder really is helpful! I think and am hoping once your family sees your success and how much more healthy and happy you are, they will be on board with you! Hope you are feeling better! I know it's tough right now, but hoping your recovery will be smooth and speedy so you are able to drive.

*hugs*

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
