Also, you should really understand that you would not be done losing weight at 5 weeks, and not question if the stall will break. I doubt there's anyone that only lost for a month on this surgery. You've made a lifetime decision and should expect to reap lifelong benefits if you do your part. It's not a race :)

I lost 0 lbs from day 14 to day 22 or so.. It IS super frustrating but the stall will break. I'm in another one right now and just waiting around for this one to end as well.

Be careful about comparing your weight loss and eating habits to others. The kind soul who sent you his plan is a different gender and had a different starting weight, it's not one size fits all. Follow your surgeon's instructions and youll do fine!

Danabortokana you have to drink your fluids and in time you will see the results of your effort. Just remember the results are small and you won't notice but others will. Be strong

@@mylastchance21 Just want to echo the good advice you've already gotten...don't compare your weight loss to others, and make sure you recognize the gender of the responders. Men lose weight very differently than women, and it seems particularly true after WLS. @@sgc is able to eat tortillas and Pasta ( @@sgc did you mean you cook half of a 10oz box of Pasta and eat it in one meal? I don't think I could eat that volume of pasta BEFORE my sleeve!), I don't eat pasta at all and only an occasional high-protein/high-fiber/low-carb tortilla, and I'm pretty sure that many carbs wouldn't work for me at 6 months.

Drink your Water, get your Protein, move as much as you can...it WILL work. Cut out that negative self-talk and stick with your program. You've already lost a LOT of weight, and it will keep coming off :)

Thank you all!!! I really do appreciate it! I'm trying my best to start thinking more positive! My husband has been such a great support and every time I start feeling down because the scale isnt moving, he's right there trying to encourage me. I'm just scared of failure and getting on the scale makes me feel like one, even though I know I'm following the plan. I'm starting to think I'm not eating enough even though I make sure I get my Protein goal of 60 a day. I will keep moving forward.

@@mylastchance21 You may be on to something re: not eating enough. I saw my surgeon for my 6 month follow up last week and he wants me to go up by 200 calories/day. He thinks I'm slowing down because I'm not eating enough! Imagine someone telling ME that I need to eat MORE...I felt kind of faint :)

It's just the 3 week stall. You're not doing anything wrong. It happens to 99% of us, and you just really have to let it pass. You can try a few things to feel proactive, but it's gonna happen, and yes, it's gonna pass. Not one person I know has stopped losing weight at 3 weeks out!

Stalls further out? Heck yeah you should be able to tweak some things to get the scale moving again. But this one is going to happen and not pass until your body is good and ready. Could be a week....could be 2. Could be 3.

I know it feels like it, but it's not the end of the world. Work your program and stay off the scale and stop stressing! You know the stress hormone causes weight to hold on, also.

Someone wise once said "Stalls are like lovers. Your first probably won't be your last"

Yea in one meal. Before I could eat two or three full boxes.

Hello everyone! I'm hoping to get some encouragement and support as I'm becoming very discouraging. I had gastric sleeve on 11/3 and I have lost 21 lbs. PreOP 351, SW 322, CW 301-302. I have not lost weight in what seems like 1-2 weeks and now everyday I'm teetering between 301 and 302. Is this normal? Will the stall ever break? Anything I can do to help it break? I know everyone's journey is different but I've been doing everything I'm suppose to do and this is just so frustrating and discouraging. It really has me wondering will this work

This is completely normal. The first dreaded stall usually happens 3-4 weeks after your surgery. I had my surgery on August 4th. I was teetering between 214 and 213 for about 2 weeks. Then I started losing again. I now weigh 195. Some people say the stall happens after your body drops a bunch of Water weight because your body goes into a sort of "panic". Your body is confused and is trying to figure out what's going on. I call it "Pioneer Mode", which is basically your body trying to hold onto every last calorie that it can. Your body is so used to your usual routine of overeating, and now that you are eating a lot less, your body thinks it's starving. I don't know if this is what helped me get away from my stall, but I remember adding a lot of Protein to my meals. I went out for Japanese and ordered beef tataki. The next day, I weighed 212. So, I really do think it's wise to eat a good amount of Protein to ensure you continue to lose weight and stay healthy.

Stay with this. You will start losing weight again! :)

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
