I am 6 weeks post op. I am supposed to be at the soft part of my diet, but I'm finding it difficult to find something that settles well. Is anyone else having this problem?

I loved soft food part and didn't have issues. I would first suggest trying smaller bites and going slower. If that doesn't help, then go back to the previous stage for a few days. Your stomach just may not be ready yet and that is ok.

Yes. I'm 5 weeks today and do best with malt oeal, cream Soup, fish and chicken don't go down well. Neither does rice or Pasta. I'm afraid to eat much of anything. I've lost my taste as well. Even Water tastes sweet and oily.

Have you tried yogurt or cottage cheese? My 6 week diet allows for lean red meat I have not had problems introducing new foods.

I've tried cottage cheese, but still can't get past the texture. I do OK with chicken salad, but seems like just about everything else, sits like a rock. I take small bites, wait 10 minutes between. Thank you for all the feedback. Guess it'll be chicken salad and Protein shakes a little while longer

I'm nearly 6 weeks. I struggle, too. I get the brick feeling often, and then I can't eat or drink for the rest of the day. chicken does this to me, for sure. I think I eat too fast and am not chewing it well enough. Shrimp doesn't sit overly well, either. Canned chicken seems to be fine for me and sometimes tuna makes me feel bricked out. It's really annoying! Soft cheeses do okay for me though. And fage green yogurt and cottage cheese are fine. I ate an egg yolk from a hard boiled egg yesterday and was mostly okay, but the whites made me want to puke. It's definitely a tough stage to be in!

Any time before you are at goal weight is too soon...

Pasta and rice and most cereals are EMPTY calories. I assume you had MAJOR surgery cause you wanted to lose weight and get healthy? If you want that to happen and keep happening you need to concentrate on eating/drinking Protein and then add nutritious food like vegetable and fruits and healthy fats to your meals. If you are having behavior problems like impulse control find a therapist who specialize in eating disorders or join OA and go to meetings regularly.

Your post op diet is NOT suggestion it's a PERSCRIPTION.

For the first few months not much does settle well. Just go slow, pay attention to what pisses off your belly, and do your best to eat the things that create the least amount of digestive turmoil. Over time, you really will be able to eat almost anything you want. But I'm a year out, and if I eat too fast-almost anything too fast-and I still get nauseous. Great reminder to be mindful about food.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
