Goal weight achieved!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Well as of 11.9.16 (just under 8 months post WLS) I hit my goal weight. SW: 256 CW: 166. I have not been this weight since I was 23 years old. I think that I will have a better body and health at the age of 40 than I was a 21.

How long has it taken some of you to hit your goal weight? Has anyone been told by those around you that you have lost weight too fast?

I just had to share the news with everyone here. I know that everyone would understand my excitement unlike those in my life that have not had the surgery!

Congratz! Nope, noone ever told me I was losing too fast because I don't hehe. I'm the turtle in the race of weight loss :). The majority of people hasn't really commented throughout the years if they see me day by day. I think the only ones are people I haven't seen in years. ^^

Congratulations that is AMAZING! I'm not there yet but I consider you an inspiration. I am only 6 weeks out and fear I will not hit goal ever, or on the flip side that I will hit and it won't stop there and people will think I'm sick. : ( great work and I hope you rock maintenance!

I have the same fear, that I will keep going. I work in a hospital and already have people whispering about where or not I am sick. So you cannot let that be something that you fear. People are going to think what they think and there is nothing you can do about that but live your like!

Congrats, I'm concerned cause it's not coming off fast enough for me. It's been 8 weeks and 50 lbs but when I look in the mirrors I see the exact same body before surgery. I congratulate you it gives me motivation

50 lbs is a really good number for 8 weeks. I was at around 35-40 lbs at 8 weeks I think. Like other have said everyone loses at their own rate. And got the mirror situation, I still do not see the body that everyone else sees when I look in the mirror. I do see a difference (can't miss the lost of 90lbs) but just not as much as I have lost. I've talked to my friends and family (and even a couple of post WLS friends) about it and everyone has almost the same response, you see yourself everyday and it's hard to see that difference. Also, it was so miserable in my old body that I think my mind is somewhat stuck there. I am hoping that my mind will catch up to my body.

Congratulations!!! I am just a bit over a year post op from the gastric sleeve surgery 12/09/15. I'm 5'5 and highest weight was 288. I'm now down to 148. My goal weight range was 130-140. (Whatever I feel most comfortable at.) I have not exercised until now, had lots of health issues that prevented that post op. I'm not on birth control either, (IUD removed last month.)so I could get pregnant any time. It's a small fear that I will gain baby weight and can't keep it off.

Exercise can help with the journey but I have exercised like I am supposed to. Haven't had the easiest road. Lots of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea along the way. A bit hard to workout when you fear these things at any given moment. We all (including myself) need to stop putting so much stress on ourselves. I come here and I am reminded that I just need to let things settle where that will.

Fantastic. How much did you excercise. Did you do anything different

In the beginning, I almost never exercised, some in part that I had a lot of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea but also due to laziness. After a whilr I started working out 3-5 days a week and I have picked up running. Great feeling. The only other thing I do is weigh everything I eat but still listen to my body about where to stop eat (can be a struggle something still, especially if it's very tasty lol) Just keep plugging along and you'll make it!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
