What are the weird and new foods you like post op?

Recommended Posts

I have this new Breakfast I eat that I think is weird.. but I love it.

I mix low fat sour cream with no sugar added ketchup, and drop a spoonful over a sunny side up egg. My husband is horrified by the look of it. :P

I also now like bacon (if high quality like butters block), in small amounts. Never liked it before.

I can now tolerate spicier foods, whereas before I hated anything spicy. And I'm from El Paso, lol.

What are some of your post-op new food loves?

I know like cottage cheese with salt and pepper. I know that's not real weird but I never could stand the site of it before.

It's not a weird food but I used to absolutely loathe eggs -- just the smell of them made me nauseated -- and now I love eggs.

Other than that, my tastes have stayed pretty much the same.

I guess one other thing isn't so much taste changing but a different focus -- I always liked sardines, but didn't eat them terribly often. Now I consider them a verging-on-perfect food (calcium, Iron, Protein, healthy Omega acids, plus low calorie!) and eat them almost every day.

ETA my favorite dinner combines sardines & eggs, which I guess some people would think is weird! I basically mash up sardines with some avocado or kale, mix in some sauce (like curry sauce or bbq sauce) and bake in the oven with an egg on top. People do tend to look at me strangely when I start raving about my sardine kale egg bake.

Plain greek yogurt.... Hated it before and now love it and have it at least once a day.

I used to love tea... I drank buckets of it daily and hated it afterwards. Even the smell turned my stomach. I have had a couple of cups recently but its not the same.

Now that IS weird seeing as I am Enlish and we are born with a cup of tea in hand lol :P

I have been looking for new ways to spice up cottage cheese. I like it now just as before surgery, but it can get boring!

I'm kind off the opposite- I loved coffee pre surgery, now I kinda like it but not nearly s much. I love tea now!!

Also, I used to be a huge lover of red wine. I took a sip the other day and didn't like it. Cant believe that!

Same here. It was so unappealing before. Now it's becoming a staple. If strange colors don't bother you, you might want to try it with a little hot sauce instead of black pepper.

Nothing. I don't like anything anymore! It's crazy. It helps because I don't overeat. The only food I enjoy post op is a taco salad. I've tried so many things. Even my favorite things pre surgery, taste gross to me now.

I can't say that I like this and that is fine but I eat Greek yogurt now. Cottage cheese and a tbsp of sugar free apricot jam is pretty darn good.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
