I'm 3 weeks post-op and having A LOT of trouble getting enough Water every day. Before surgery, it was easy, because I could just gulp it down. Now, with having to take tiny sips, I feel like it's nearly impossible to even get 1/2 of my daily requirement (64 oz). I've been pretty sick since surgery, so I've been living mostly off of Water. Anything else makes me more nauseated. The doctor found and corrected a small stricture last week, which we thought would help... it hasn't too much.

I've been to the hospital twice, because of problems staying hydrated, and I don't want to go back. Any tips on water intake and getting enough?

I'd mix unflavored Protein Powder in the Water to get the Protein in, maybe even try pedialyte- it has sugar but I get nauseous when I'm dehydrated. Maybe you still have a structure? I'm a week post op and have been testing myself- I'm able to "gulp" about three times then I feel full but the liquid goes down. I hope you feel better. Pop a zofran and practice a little?

Try different temperatures of water-I can't drink if it's cold. I started making Decaf tea-which counts as liquids, and fruit infused Water. I can't tolerate any of the artificial sweetener products-propel, Isopure, crystal light- so this was my solution. I'm getting in 64 ounces plus and I'm just shy of four weeks

Get some popsicles. They were a lifesaver for me. You have to eat them fairly quickly and you can chew them. I would eat 2-3 a day. It gives you a more flavorful liquid consumption. Just make sure they are sugar free.

trouble getting enough Water every day.

@@Ssze1109

you must get 64 oz liquid in a day

non alcoholic LOL

not necessarily water

most NUTS count Protein shake in your liquid daily amount

warm, cool, room temperature are also good to try

try crystal light

it has some flavor, and might work for you

good luck

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
