Struggling a bit in week 7 postop

Recommended Posts

So I'm on soft foods for another 2 more weeks. However, I have been trying some other foods such as spaghetti squash, salmon, tuna etc. And I've been good. But for the most part I drink Protein shakes, eat Jello, Soup, cottage cheese, yogurt etc. The problem though is I don't feel satisfied and find myself getting hungry within 2 hours is that normal.

Also, I've been getting this strange sharp pain in my upper chest that just hits hard and goes away. The funny thing is that when I feel this pain it seems to hurt straight down to my groin area. I know right? Maybe it's all in my head.

How much Protein are you consuming in one meal?

I probably not doing enough Protein. I have one shake in the morning and some yogurt in the afternoon and a string cheese as a snack. dinner is usually Soup or oatmeal or cottage cheese.

Well I am still pre-op, but I know my surgeons goal for everyone is 20g of Protein per meal. It is what keeps you feeling full. I am not sure how that will breakdown in the early phase yet but it sounds like the source of your hunger.

@@Asmundson69 Soft foods should include fish, tuna, etc. Try incorporating more of those in your diet - more Protein and should keep you full longer. Are you still taking a PPI (reduce stomach acid)? Get some unflavored Protein powder to add to other foods (spaghetti squash, soup). Take slow bites - if the pains don't go away - call your surgeon.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
