I have used milk. I think it tastes way better.

soy milk adds to the protein

I personally use milk for the simple reason that I am on two different diabetes medications, was on three, Since the Protein shake contains no sugar, the milk is my only source of sugar for that meal and keeps me from crashing.

Water only. Milk in shakes is too heavy for me tastes.
