Feeling so emotionally overwhelmed

Recommended Posts

Hi all I am new to this forum and have tried multiple times to reach out to the surgical team and they never get back to me. I am sick of it. My post op care has been horrible. I am having abdominal pain that seems to never go away. I am so exhausted and weak I can barely get dressed. I am extending out my FMLA for at least 6 weeks of recovery. I have had diarrhea so bad I got dehydrated and I am following the plan that was given to me as a soft food diet. with no potatoes, corn or pea's, lamb, pork or beef for the first 60 days. I have moved over to clears to see if I can get my stomach and intestines from stop moving in my abdomen like a snake. I have a lot of pressure that star bursts out around the belly button every time I eat. Can this be normal. I am a revision from a 30 year stapling and had to have the RNY with a gastrectomy. Any advise..

I did that and did go to the ER. And of course I was dehydrated and needed Fluid but I should not have to do that.

Advice - let's see!

I became lactose intolerant after my RNY gastric bypass surgery. So every time I drank milk or anything that contained lactose, it was upset stomach and a quick trip to the bathroom with diarrhea. Beware some Protein drinks contain lactose.

While in the hospital they tend to give patients antibiotics to kill bacteria that you might encounter during surgery and your hospital stay. This kills not only the bad bacteria but also the good bacteria that resides in your gut. You need to reestablish the good bacteria by taking a probiotic.

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

Weight loss is achieved after surgery through meal volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.
So the main focus should be on meeting your daily protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
