Feet falling asleep while on the toilet

Recommended Posts

I know that having your feet "fall asleep/pins and needles" while sitting on the toilet is a fairly common side effect of being overweight/obese.

Has anyone had increased instances of pins and needles since having the sleeve and losing weight?

I get them practically every time I spend more than 5 min on the toilet and I rarely used to get them in the past. Im 42lbs lighter, so I dont understand why its getting worse.

This is constant for me! Didn't expect a woman to be the one to bring this up though as #2 questions seem to cause embarrassment to many women. So good on you for asking the question!

Now, to answer your question with my experience as to why it happens sooner or more frequently than before. In my experience, I tend to have my elbows just above my knee. Guess what? My elbows are sharper than before and my thighs are not as cushioned as before either. I can put both my feet to sleep in minutes! I look palsied when I try to pull up my britches and walk out of the stall!

Of course that is only one possible reason, but it is something to consider. Where do you place your elbows while you are talking to a man about a horse?

I am going to agree with @@BigViffer here and after weight loss it is all about posture.

I seriously have to mindfully sit all the time. I can't just sit any old kind of way or I will hurt in the car, my desk even on the couch.

You have to adjust your posture for your new weight.

And yes I found I was even sitting wrong on the toilet. When my feet fall alseep, I adjust my sitting position and it corrects instantly.

I have this issue as well. I also noticed that after surgery when I would shave my legs, they would be numb and tingled.

Weirdest sensation ever.

I plan to today. I was only sleeved last week.

I would be worried about clots this soon after surgery - so be sure to talk to your surgeon. I've been wearing my lovely and sexy T.E.D. stockings post-op (also a week).

As I'm working through Constipation issues, I end up on the toilet for way too long at a time. the Squatty Potty is a lifesaver. Changing the position helps with the constipation and keeps my legs from falling asleep.

I have a bunch of friends and coworkers who swear by the squatty potty. The commercial for it is worth the price of admission alone:

Warning, if you just had surgery, do NOT watch the video. I am not responsible for any stitches busting loose while laughing.

I literally fell out of my chair laughing at the commercial.

But the product is very good, I have to say.

I bought the squatty potty along with PooPourri and other items as part of a toilet themed birthday gag gift for my husband last year. He wasnt exactly thrilled while i cackled to myself.

We returned it because he refused to use it.

That's a shame because they are very helpful with Constipation. Bought 2 of them myself. Hell, I'd bring it to work if I didn't think the savages in my office would piss all over it.

I snorted at "savages". Sounds about right at my job too.

I think part of the rejection was due to size of bathroom and proximety of toilet to wall making the squatty potty a hinderence. The ither size is man tummy.

Has anyone else seen a change in their "schedule"? I was a 7am or 9am-er and now I am a 1-2pmer.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
