Water intake

Recommended Posts

I'm a bit confused about Water intake.....I know I'm supposed to sip water all day except half an hour before and after eating.

My question is do I take a drink once every 5 min like the way I do with my food or just continually sip?

I'm trying to understand if I can only do like 5-6 tbs in 30-45 min of food how does it not stretch the pouch if you put more water in it by sipping constantly?

I am only getting a litre of water in at this point. 16 days post op.

Any advice is appreciated.

I believe the drinking while eating isnt recommended because it flushes food out so you feel hungry sooner after, not that it stretches. There's a video on YouTube about it. Sipping constantly doesn't stretch because it flows through.

I go with trying to take 10 oz within an hour. How far out are you? We were told 1 -2 every 15 minutes

@@spdmonkeymama I was told to sip throughout the day. But I wasn't sure if I should be following "food rules" one tbs every 5 minutes or if it was okay to sip whenever. I am afraid of stretching the pouch? Don't even know if it is possible with liquids. I will be having post op next week and will ask to confirm. I'm 3 weeks post op tomorrow.

Your just a week behind me. Sip however you can. liquids won't stretch your pouch.

@@kayelly It should be safe to sip continuously. Liquids move through the pouch much faster than solid food. Shortly after surgery, you really need to get in all the fluids you can to prevent dehydration. The 30/30 rule comes into play when eating solid foods.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
