Day 1...Liver Reduction

Recommended Posts

My advice is to be kind to yourself. It's really tough to do the pre-op diet when you still have a full sized stomach. At least if you are on one of the more strict ones. You won't be getting many calories and the process of switching into ketosis is pretty taxing on the body, so take it kind of easy if you can. Don't try to do too much physical activity.

My other advice is to stick to it, because the transition into ketosis is no joke. It can take 2-3 days, during which you are likely to experience headaches and general misery. If you "cheat" by having any carbs at any point during the diet, you will kick your body out of ketosis and have to go through the transition all over again. Don't put yourself through that! So not worth it to temporarily satisfy a carb craving. If you have to "cheat" at all, which I don't recommend, then make sure you are doing so with high protein/low carb foods.

Unflavored Protein powder mixed with chicken or beef broth was a lifesaver during that stage for me.

Good luck!

I can't tell you how helpful it is to your recovery to be really faithful. My surgeon thanked me because he had a very easy straight shot to my stomach. If I tried to wait to the last minute it would have made it tougher for him to get around the liver. I was out of surgery in 25 minutes. Less anesthesia made it much easier on me.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
