In Need of Suggestions in MA!!!

Recommended Posts

I am planning to get banded through Lowell General Hospital Weight Management program. It's located in Lowell, MA in the North east of Ma. The fee is $400, $200 in the begining and $200 after approval. The rest, I think will be covered through my insurance. I don't know if they do self pay.

Good Luck

Aimee

I'm going Monday Sept. 24th to another support group of people who are interested in the band and who have had the band. I've already been to one and this will be my second. It will be real important since it is just 2 weeks prior to my surgery. I have to pick the brains of the bansters! It's in West Springfield.

that is too funny i was at that meeting and i'm getting banded the same day at the same place only with dr haag. maybe i'll run into you....lol good luck

Julie, what time is your surgery? I'm due in at 6:00 am! I think surgery is scheduled for 7 or 7:30. I'm getting excited!!

After the meeting I spent a lot of time talking to Linda, she is the lady who lost 175 lbs! She looks fabulous and will talk freely about her journey.

Wishing you best of luck and I do hope we meet!

Hi All,

I'm scheduled for October 30th for my band. I am having it at Beth Israel with Dr. JOnes. I did have to pay $500 for labs and other stuff, but insurance has approved everything else. I'm a little nervous and hope it all works out.

Great to know there are people near by!

Hang in there!:)

Hi All,

I was just banded on 10/15 at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA. They have a great program (Center for Surgical Weight Loss) that was just certified a Center of Excellence by the Bariatric Surgery Center Network (BSCN) Accreditation Program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). They have been wonderful to deal with and the hospital was unbelievable... all private rooms, around the clock care.

My insurance (BCBS) covered the procedure, but during the initial seminar they stated self-pay for lapband surgery was about $18,000 (including all the pre- and post-surgery office visits, labs, fill appointments, etc.). It is a pretty intensive program, but it works and I love my surgeon (Dr. Nepomnayshy).

Dr. Glasgow office in Norwood MA does not charge anything. The only thing that I had to pay for was the Phycoligist visit and that was $175, but that was reimbursed by BCBS. I only had to pay the co-pays of five dollars. So far so good.

I was just searching the site for anyone who was banded at Lahey. I am in the final preparations for my surgery. I love the program and it's so very thorough and it may take a month longer than some it's very very supportive. Everyone is so nice and not judgmental at all. I finish my 4 week course on controlling your eating habits and the psychological reasons why we overeat with Dr.Lyle Kantor and he's wonderful. It's actually been fun for me to go there. All the nurses and nutritionists are very supportive too. I get my surgery date in the next week or so. I lost most of my pre-op weight.

I know that I am in good hands. I'm glad to see someone here from there who had the surgery and was pleased.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
