Old band port site still draining 6 weeks post-op band to sleeve conversion

Recommended Posts

My surgeon is 600 miles away so I've only had phone consult with nurse who is only now expressing concern. My port had been put in with a mesh so it was particularly difficult for the surgeon to remove. Site didn't start to drain for about 3 weeks post-op. It's been draining less and less over the last 3 weeks. I feel as if it's almost done. But am concerned about potential infection. No other signs (fever, nausea, etc). The site does not *appear* infected (redness, etc). Was told by the surgeons office that my local GP would not be of any help. Just curious if anyone else had draining this long after surgery.

Your comment surprises me. I don't remember drainage from any of the incision sites. They were taped and very clean looking when changing the dressing. Its been a few years now and hard to recall but I would have remembered that. I do know that I had lots of pain in my abdomen for about a week but the liquid pain killer helped with that and the pain finally faded away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
