I'm 6 days Post Op and have some discomfort and "cramping" when my shakes and broth go down, BM today (6 days out)....anyone else feeling this??? It gets pretty harsh sometimes.

I feel like my liquids used to go down smoother without problems when I first got discharged. I couldn't sleep last night. The grumbling & cramping did not let up and I was supposed to go back to work today. Feedback please?!

I have near constant pressure in the center of my chest that is agrivated when i drink anything. My dr office says that it is pretty common and usually is the result of the acid. They recommended any kind of acid reducer that i could tolerate. Omeprozale helps but tbe crushed pills make me gag. I am looking into getting liquid omeprozale, but it requires a prescription even though you can get it otc.

I am also 6 days post op.

Try thinning your liquids, or heating / chilling them. Most often it's one little picky thing, and a simple temperature or texture change makes all the difference! Play around with it, as every one of us seems to be different. That should soon be subsiding a bit in its own each day as well.

I've been taking Prevacid daily since being discharged but the cramping is nagging. Even when I'm not drinking and between meals it attacks me and then leaves within 2-3 seconds. I will ask my Dr about Omeprozale! Sometimes I get lucky and my warm chicken broth soothes my aching sleeve :(

Liquid omeprozale has to be made by a compounding pharmacy according to the reseach and pharmacists i have talked to, which is why you need a script.

The worst part for me is getting that food/pill caught in your throat felling along with the chest pressure. Pure torture.

I didn't take my Prevacid today after reading your reply LOL...I will tomorrow but will call my dr office for a RX. Is the omeprozale helping you? Does it minimize some of the chest pain? Tonight was really for me to be around food while feeding my toddler. I couldn't even watch her chew because my mouth was watering. My period started 3 days post op and I have 2 days left. This is gonna be a toughie!

I've had this as well. Now that I'm 8 days post op I can tell I can take bigger sips of drink without having the heartburn feel or bubbly feel. Feels so nice not to have that!!

Try drinks etc at different temperatures. I found warm things go down more. Drinking at room temperature helps as well. It will get better

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
