Tomatoe soup? Postop diets.

Recommended Posts

I am 4days post op. I had 1/4 cup of Tomato Soup didn't really finish that. I'm supposed to do Clear liquids but I feel myself getting dehydrated so I had to do something else to get in some sort of fluids.

Just looking to see what everyone else's. Post op sort consist of?

I know i shouldn't deviate but I felt myself getting dehydrated.

I'm confused, if you eat a thicker Soup all you are doing is taking up room in your sleeve that is needed for clear liquid? Usually it is a healing thing why we are restricted to clear Fluid. If you feel dehydrated then Water and electrolytes are needed! Are you sure you're not just head hungry? I was not permitted anything other than unsweetened Clear Liquids for two weeks post op. Have you called your surgeon?

I just had my husband go out and get popsicles. They worked better than anything else I've been trying and I actually feel a little full.

My full liquids start Thursday. But I think I just needed something other than clear liquids...

the first day after surgery i was on clear liquids. then for the next 2 weeks i was on clear and full liquids. i did Tomato Soup with unflavored Protein powder mixed in. after 2 weeks post op i was able to add in whatever i felt my body was ready for as long as i paid attention to signals and such.

It's so odd how the diet changes from dr to dr. My dr has me on clear liquids for the first 2 weeks. After that it's moist and mushy for 2 weeks. One thing I haven't been doing is any kind of Protein. So I need to get to the store to get something to add to clear liquids.

Yes The diets are all very different. Thursday I go to full liquids. Then next wk pureed, the following week soft foods Then finally the next wk is whatever I can tolerate. I've been very particular about following my surgeon's orders. I never wanted to deviate. I'm not one of those ppl who gets surgery Then ask when can I have pizza. I just had a few tsp of Tomato Soup with some Protein added in. It was a good change of pace. Then I went back to clears....

I was on clear liquids for 2 weeks, moved to puréed for another 2 weeks and then soft food diet now until 12 weeks out (I am currently at 9 weeks out).

I was able to do the powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken broth already at the hospital the day after I was sleeved. It's available online. Just make sure your Water is less than 140 degrees or it lumps.

I also did a lot of sugar free Popsicles and Jello. This all counted toward my daily liquids.

The Pacific Bone broth has ... 9 grams of Protein per cup? My honey doctored some up by boiling a Parmesan rind in it; some with a little miso paste; and some with a little soy sauce. He then strained it all thoroughly and kept me me supplied with the thermoses of it the first week. I sipped on it like tea for fluids and Protein throughout the day.

I also ate popsicles, Jello, and chamomile/peach/mint tea, but I think the broth did the most good. If nothing else, the warm was nice on my sleeve.

@@dccarite Make yourself some broth - it really helps to have something savory! I use boxed broth (chicken, Beef, Veggie) and boil carrots, celery, onions in it for an hour or so. I also add garlic powder, minced garlic, onion powder, minced onion, paprika, salt & pepper and celery salt. It's really good and will fit in with your plan. You can buy some of the boxed broths/stock that have some Protein as well.

Try infused Water, Powerade zero, sugar free popsicles, iced tea (decaf), hot tea (flavored) for hydration.

Hang in there!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
