Hi I'm a newbie. I'm curious to know how many of you used Emory Bariatric Center in Atlanta. I have my 1st appointment with them on the 18. I can't seem to find any reviews and also read that its a year waiting list?

I went through Emory Bariatrics. I was sleeved on the 4th of August. It was great. I was able to do all of my insurance requirements with their help and the nutritionists are great and responsive. My surgeon was Jamil Stetler and he is awesome. I had zero complications and little pain. My incisions look great. I got approval in a week from my insurance and was sleeved about 10 days later. Feel free to dm me if you have specific questions. Good luck.

I was in an initial meeting within three weeks of calling on April 10th, had an insurance requirement on 3 month supervised diet, and was sleeved on Aug 4.

Hi. Thanks for the information as I stated my 1st appointment is on the 18 to get everything going what should I look forward to out of that visit. Also should I grab any of my medical records to bring with me. How is the staff do they get things done in a timely manner. I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to do the 6 month supervised diet. Last question being that my BMI is over 50 will that speed the process up. Sorry so many question

The pace is mostly set by your insurance requirements and yourself. The first appt you'll get a notebook with docs for the personal nutritionist visit and psych evaluation and what insurances they take. It will also be the first meeting w a doc or PA for your supervised diet. (I only had a PA once, others it was the head of the program). Blood work is also drawn first visit. Then it's fulfill your requirements and go monthly for sup diet. Took a few days to submit when I had completed everything but like I said I was sleeved about 10 days later. 7 day pre-op liquid diet and a progressive plan introducing foods sooner than I see a lot on here. Take your insurance info if you can get it online. Medical records not needed. Only time I waited was first visit and I think they forgot me. But every other time was quick. I don't think the bmi will speed it up. It's all about meeting your insurance requirements. Good luck.

Hi, I began my journey in march of this year & have my 6th visit on tomorrow. My endoscopy is on Wednesday. I have been satisfied thus far. You'll have guest speakers in the nutrition class that have been through the process. The information they shared was very encouraging (since reviews are hard to find). I do know that it's a "center of excellence " which Atlanta Medical and some others are not (Even Piedmont which was my first choice for a while). My bmi is close to yours and no it doesn't speed the process at all. I see dr. Rohatji across the hall as my PCP and she took forever to get me my letter of medical necessity! My psych was quick and was expedited to Emory. They have been apparently organized, friendly and helpful. Just don't miss any visits and be prepared to be there early because it's first come first serve and usually one doc is seeing everyone in the class and it's usually 15-20 minutes a counseling session. So if there are 4-5 people ahead of you.... yeah not fun (but they do have wifi :-)) inbox me if you care to chat via phone!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
