Question about pain pump

Recommended Posts

My friend had a pain pump catheter in her leg for her knee replacement and the doctor or nurse removed it latter when it was time.

I had a PCA patient controlled anesthesia pain pump once for abdominal surgery and it was part of my IV. It was removed before I left the hospital

I do not know if these answers help you much. I'm not sure why you would have a pain pump that goes home with you unless you have special circumstances. I am a chronic pain patient and they told me they didn't think o would need a PCA pump.

I had one inserted into my abdomen, I didn't even really know what it was at first. But, I do remember coming out in recovery moaning like baby, this thing was good and I guess it may be why I didn't really need pain medications (or the additional ones from Rx).

I was very worried about pulling that thing out, but read directions and it will go just fine. Go slow, the first tug is the hardest. Mine had the added complication that the latex tubing was causing an allergic reaction so for the first week or so I had a red outline of the pump on my stomach as a reminder.

It seems intense to pull out and it is surprisingly long, but it was easy. I was worried it was not working because it took a couple of days or so to notice any deflation in the ball.

Oh interesting about the pain pump in the stomach I guess it's a alternative way to manage pain post op. I would not want to have to pull that out!!!!!!

Don't sweat it, the first day the hospital gives you a pain pump right out of recovery. After that you use it as needed. By day 2 your on meds taken by mouth. And discharged with a script. You got this! I took Tylenol without any narcotic just to see if I could deal. I could during the day and took the pain pill at night to sleep. Walking helps the discomfort the most!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
