Help Calories, Carb and Fat Intake

Recommended Posts

The three most important elements after RNY gastric bypass surgery are to meet your daily Protein, Fluid and Vitamin requirements. food is secondary because your body is converting your stored fat into the energy that drives your body. Thus you lose weight.

Weight loss is achieved after surgery through volume control. You begin at 2 ounces (1/4 cup) per meal and gradually over the next year and a half increase the volume to 1 cup per meal. With this minuscule amount of food, it is next to impossible to meet your Protein daily requirements by food alone, so therefore you need to rely on supplements such as Protein shakes.
So essentially, the approach is not counting calories, carbs and fats during the "Weight Loss" phase. Eventually after several months you will slide into the "Maintenance" phase, and the approach in that phase is different and you can go back to counting calories, carbs and fats.

My nutritionist helped me set my fitness pal app at my 4 week stall. She told me at 4 weeks 500 calories (which I ate less and couldn't hit 500 til 7 weeks). 51g Protein (40%) and I usually go over, 31g carbs (25%), 19g fat (35%) and i've never come close to that fat total. She told me this would increase over each stage but to stop when I'm full. I've been happy, losing consistently, and never feel hungry. So this has worked for me. Everyone is different. So, making an appointment with a nutritionist might help you. :)

Hello everyone, I am 1 month post op and hit a stall. So, my question is how many calories, carbs and fats should I be consuming?

The most important number is your Protein target. All of the other numbers are relative to that. What is your Protein target?

I just saw my nutritionist and doctor and had the same complaint I was told every 30 to 50 pounds of weight loss your body will take a break and say yep Im ok here but if you stay on track it will end.. mine was 7 days.. then dropped 2 pounds and stayed there another 4.. but guess what overnight I lost 3 pounds and am back to the losing track.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
