I can't believe its been 6 months and everyone is doing so good. It will be amazing to see what everyone does in the next 6 months. I will be glad when the next 6 months goes by as we are entering winter months, which is always hard for me. I just don't like cold weather, so enjoy the nice weather that we are having right now.

Good luck to everyone and stay the course. We will make it together.

CAROL, I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU!!! I hater the winter months but i am definitely looking forward to going shopping next summer for a new wardrobe after wearing big baggy heavy and bulky clothing... Wont that be fun imagine what 5/6mths could do:)

Juli- It seems that all I eat is Protein to tell you the truth. I can't do bread, rice or potatoes (unless they are mashed).

I usually have a salad w/meat or eggs or just the meat and a couple of veggies.

Any thoughts?

Nikki, Don't feel bad i have the same problem... I guess in our case (and i'm sure other bandsters as well) its just something we had to give up... But it is so worth it!!!

Jeni, sounds like your in starvation mode to me. I was watching biggest loser the other night the trainer said that that is a huge problem with people that our trying to lose weight. You have to eat so your body doesn't hold on to the fat and calories.

happy 6 month anniversary everyone, it sure has been interesting. I am soo glad I have this lapband on, now starts the time of year that I normally pack on the lb's.

Janine, i have heard of this but i simply don't have an appetite at work... then again i haven't had time go to the gym (which is making me completely droopy) ... But thats ok, I only got 60 more hours left .

My BMI is now 29! I am no longer considered "obese"!!! :)

TAMMYJ, Congrats!!!!!

I am planning on throwing a party when i reach one-lander!!!!! And another one when i am no longer considered obese!!!

Yippee and congrats again on reaching this wonderful milestone!!!!

Well, I decided to wait on my current school pics (yup, I'm a teacher) to reflect the before/after. I'm rather pleased. (except for the dopey tilt they do). :)

Hi I had my surgery on March 19, 2007. I love my band but wish I was losing faster. I have lost 30 lbs ( lowest I have been in 4 Years, so that is great!) I have had three fills so I am at 2.8 now. I can eat most anything, have had a few PB situations when I didn't chew well enough or tried to eat cold chicken or lamb from the refrigerator. I am eating about 1200 calories a day and working out at the gym 5 hours a week. I would love to have any suggestions for quicker weight loss.

Congrats to both of you Thickchick and Tammyj.

I am still holding at about 189-192 since I was unfilled in August and am still in size 18 (can get into a 16, but still to tight to wear all day). I go in for a refill on October 1, can't wait to get the ball rolling again so I can catch up with everyone else :)

I've increased my Protein by drinking Isopure in the am after my coffee and then having some cottage sheese for Breakfast. It's so strange because I don't loose for weeks and then I dro plike 2 lbs and then I don't loose again.

I need to excersise more!!

Ok, I'm done beating myself up.

Thanks!!!

Nikki...i'm with you here. I busted my butt last week exercising and the last few days nothing. Haven't dropped a pound in almost 2 weeks. I really need to stick to an exercise routine and i'm sure i'd be more consistant in my weight loss.

*****So when I started this journey I was Morbidly obese according to the BMI chart (42)....right now I'm Obese.(31.8) ...I only have 6 more lbs to go and i'll offically be "overweight!" (29.9)

Yee haw!

Hoping to get in one last trip out on the boat before we shrink wrap it for the winter, supposed to be around 80 degrees here on Sunday.

Everyone have a great weekend, probably talk to everyone in October!

I want to say WOO HOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I'm at my half way mark! Look at my perfectly balanced ticker!

90 pounds since the first of the year has been a challenge and I'm sure the second 90 is going to be even more of one, but I'm so happy and so proud right now I just have to share!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
