Recommended Posts

So, 5 weeks out of surgery and I think I have milk/dairy/lactose intolerance if i have a tiny bit of any of these my body almost goes into shock. I need the toilet. Sweat dizzy can sometimes struggle to walk! Anyone else had this

I'm not an expert as I didn't have this issue with my own surgery, but I have heard of some people becoming lactose intolerant after surgery.

You'll probably need to discuss it with your surgeon or personal physician for guidance.

I happened to me I can only use lactaid milk and take lactose tablets if I had something with regular dairy.

So the dumping may be from the lactose but it could also be from the sugar content of the milk. Are you consuming less than 16g of sugar? I heard that is about the threshold however that is probably even lower directly after surgery.

Yes I became Lactose intolerant after my RNY in July of 2013. It sounds like you are experiencing this also. Or maybe the dumping syndrome I'm not a DR by no means so You should talk to your Dr to be sure.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
