Hey guys.....question....does anyone else sometimes feel guilty when they eat??? Lately, ive been feeling guilty everytime I eat and honestly, its quite annoying cuz I get to the point that I don't want to eat.....any advice????

Are you eating the right things? If not, that would explain the guilt.

Then I don't see any obvious reason - I'd suggest working with a therapist. I see one every week.

@ButchLuce, yeah, I think I'm just being unrealistic and impatient, LOL. I am doing well -- 8-10 lbs a month is awesome, but for some reason I wasn't thinking that the 8-10 is coming off .5 lbs at a time, not in one or two dramatic chunks!

Plus, it's a little disappointing -- I'm down almost 40 lbs and no one seems to have noticed anything! What the heck? Just makes me realize how big I was that 40 lbs is a drop in the freaking bucket.

Heather it may have to do with people (especially) men being hesitant to say anything about a woman's weight. Or, they may think you are ill. Have you let it be known that you had Bariatric surgery? I put a post on Facebook the day after surgery so my friends would know about it. It's saved a million questions and I get so many positive remarks from my friends. They are very supportive! Also it helped to explain why I'm not taking part in the meals at Masonic and Lions Club meetings. No one had to ask they just knew I would not be taking part in the buffets! Hang it there gal!

Had my surgery on 9/13. I have done very well medically and was down 32 lbs last Saturday. I only weigh once a week at WW. I realized today I could pull my jeans up and down without unbutton or unzipping them. Bought new underwear 3 sizes smaller and down in pants from 16w to 12 or 14. I was lucky that my mother cleaned out her closet just when I needed some clothes. I have noticed I am more tired in the past 2 weeks since I went to trying to get my Protein from food. I am off all meds except antidepressant and my goal is to get off that by the new year. My hair is falling out so started the Biotin and hope it stalls it. I feel so blessed to have had a good recovery and I thank God for that. I have become hooked on this website and really have to do less frequent online activity as my house is suffering. This surgery is a great thing for me and I thank all the people who post on here that have helped me figure out the steps.

I was sleeved September 6, 2016 I'm going on 9 weeks out and am down 40 lbs since surgery. For any of you that don't know about www.insurenutrition.com this company contacts your insurance co to see if you qualify to have your Premier Protein shakes, scar and stretch mark cream covered. My insurance co covers it and the shakes alone is a savings of $100.00 a month.

I had surgery 9/15/16. It's been really frustrating. I still can't drink more that 20oz a day. I get IV fluids a few times a week. The Vitamins make me nauseas and most foods heavier than the soft/ mushy diet hurt. On top of that the gas and Constipation in the last week have been killer.

I was done on the 9th. Almost through the 2 weeks of clears. Bad issues with the head hunger. I have leftover Optifast in my fridge and that is looking tasty, lol. Hell, the cats wet, canned food is almost looking good (just kidding). I will start full liquid on Thursday. That means some shakes and other stuff with a little more substance.

My current worry is that I am supposed to have lunch with my mom tomorrow and the parents do not know I did this.Trust me, it's better this way. I'm not sure how I'm gonna get through this. I'm in town for a job interview so maybe I can just get some Soup and pawn it off as nerves. There's also soft boiled eggs (she's got celiac so we usually do Breakfast places) but that's not exactly clear.

Ideas, anyone?

Soup, yogurt etc

Hi everyone! Just wanted to check in you all! Seems like I've found my happy grove. Just taking it a day at a time. It's been 2 months and 4 days since my surgery. 48 lbs gone forever! I was a bit nervous how the carbs I ate over thanksgiving would affect me, but I kept things minimal. My three month check up is the Tuesday after Christmas. I would love to have it read a total of 60lbs lost by then. I've also signed up for a5k obstacle course in April. My daughter (who is 12 and now weighs more than me) is going to do it with me. We're both working with a trainer. Trying to lead by example- and so thankful she's choosing to follow!

My surgery was September 26th. VSG, gallbladder removed and hernia repair! I'm doing well overall, lost 41 pounds so far, have no food restrictions, meeting my Protein goals most days with food - not shakes. I am still struggling with Fluid intake often (my taste buds don't like Water anymore and I'm getting tired of the same flavors). I'm open to suggestions. My incisions have healed, I have no pain unless I lay on my right side (still tender), my scars are fading. People are telling me I look skinny - (no one outside of my immediate family knows) my clothes no longer fit or are baggy. I found a local support group I really love. This 1st Thanksgiving was wonderful except for the ham (vomiting the 1st time since surgery), I don't know what is up with pork! I'm never hungry. I have been able to stop my blood pressure medication & the cardiologist gave me a great report and I don't go back for a year! Overall, I'm really happy with the progress I'm making and so glad I decided to have the surgery. It feels GREAT being healthy!!!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
