2 months out & only lost 15 lbs?

Recommended Posts

Hi new here! Surgery date was 7/13/16, lost 10lbs right away and have SLOWLY only lost 5 more lbs.

I'm a "light weight" I guess, so people say it goes slower but STILL! I'm 5'1" (current BMI is 32.9)

SW: 189.4

CW: 174

I exercise every single day (walking 1-2 miles typically), lift small weights every other day, getting 50-60 grams of Protein a day and about 50-60 ounces of Water per day (that's harder to do). I can't eat a lot at a time, so I'm not overeating. WHAT AM I DOING WRONG? Is this normal because I have less to lose? It's so discouraging and I'm worried I did all of this to only lost 15lbs

@@transitioning yes I'm taking B12 shots once a month, a Multivitamin twice a day that I buy at my doctor's office, a prescription Vitamin D, probiotic and an Iron Vitamin daily. The one thing I haven't mentioned is that my bowels are certainly not as regular as before my surgery. I feel like it would help a lot if i could get those moving better!

This could be part of the problem. Increasing fluids will help this. You can also try taking benefiber (but increase water) or add Fiber through foods (veggies) to your diet to see if it improves. I don't think there's anything medically wrong with you - you are losing weight (8% in 2 months - that's not bad at all).

Fact: The less you have to lose, the slower the losses.

You're not doing anything wrong except stressing over the rate of your weight loss. Make sure you're meeting your Protein and fluids goals, try to stay away from junk and just let it happen. You'll get there.

I think u are not suppose to do a lot of exercising in the beginning. They said that it's harder to lose weight if you start to exercise too much. Check with your bariatric doctor or nurses aide or whoever to give you more help I think you should be losing more weight than that God's blessings and there is more weight to lose down the road.

UPDATE: Since posting this I increased my Water and Protein intake so that I'm getting at least 65 grams of Protein and 60-64 ounces of Water a day. I immediately saw a difference! The scale has dropped 1.2 pounds in the last 3 days. I can't believe that adding just 10 more grams of protein and 10 more ounces of water a day broke my stall. Crazy!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
