When did you feel "normal" again?

Recommended Posts

How long did it take before you could eat/drink without feeling that grumbling/pressure/need to burp/nausea/just plain uncomfortable feeling? I am 6 weeks out and I feel at least one of the above mentioned feelings whenever I eat or drink unless its a popsicle.

I have a friend who said he started feeling normal after about a year.

I am almost 4 months out and still have those issues as well. I'm waiting to feel normal again too!

Hmm, that is something that just gets better as you heal. 3 months is the first turning point, and that is when I had few issues, although I never really had the issues you have. Then 6 months things are really different, then 9. At a year I feel completely normal except with less capacity.

Yesterday I wanted to finish a Protein shake so I could throw it in the dumpster before getting in my car and I was able to drink a whole premier shake in about 2-3 minutes. Right after surgery it would have taken me 2 hours.

My coworker said she felt normal at 6 months. I'm only 2 weeks post op and can't wait for that.

Note to self: I don't have to take this day all at once but rather one step, one breath and one moment at a time. I am only one person.

I've been wondering the same thing! I'm 5 weeks out and pretty always feel those same things. Glad it's not just me and that it goes away.

The happiness I felt outweighed everything. Eat little, rest, one day at a time.

I feel better than normal at 8 weeks...just can't eat as much, but I think I'm extremely lucky. I can chug Water, Protein shakes. I can eat til I'm full and then stop. I never get any signs of nausea anymore and I have NEVER thrown up. Not the day of surgery or any day after. Everyone is different, however, and I came into this surgery very healthy and with a much lower BMI than most people that resort to this have. I count those as major reasons I've had no complications. I work out daily and have a trainer twice a week. I work full time. I have more energy than I've ever had! (Thank you Dr. Ortiz!!)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
